Beckhoff Automation Increases Turnover by 17% in 2005

Year-end numbers show global sales of 151 million euros - helped by robust sales of industrial PCs and distributed I/O

MINNEAPOLIS, May 4, 2006 - Beckhoff Automation, with its global headquarters in Verl, Germany, finished the 2005 financial year with a strong 17% increase in turnover. During 2005, worldwide turnover amounted to 151 million euros. This continued success is due in large part to constant product development, introduction of several new products and aggressive expansion of the Beckhoff international sales and distribution network.

Sales increased in both the German market and in global export, with exports making up 41% of the total turnover in 2005. Beckhoff "New Automation Technology" is now well-established in more than 60 countries worldwide through 16 subsidiaries, agencies or distribution partners.

Managing Director Hans Beckhoff is optimistic about the future: "With annual growth rates of 17% in 2005, 31% in 2004 and 27% in 2003, our company continues to develop very positively. The rapid development of previous years has continued into the first quarter of 2006 based on worldwide growth in the automation market, especially above-average development in our specialty areas of PC Control, distributed I/O and PLC/NC software. During 2006, with even greater availability of EtherCAT I/O Terminals, the introduction of our TwinSAFE safety solution, the new AX5000 drive range and new compact IPCs, we will set several performance and pricing standards that should fuel strong growth over the coming years."

Hans Beckhoff continued, "In parallel with the expansion of our product families, we will continue to develop our national and international sales network. During 2006, we will strengthen our local presence by establishing official subsidiaries in Spain, Belgium, Brazil, South Africa, and Australia. National and international locations will be expanded, as well as the worldwide distributor network."

The number of Beckhoff Automation employees has also grown. At the end of 2005, Beckhoff had a staff of 661 worldwide - an increase of 20% over the previous year. Similar growth is expected for 2006.
