BASF Wins Polyurethane Innovation Award

WYANDOTTE, MI, October 15, 2010 - BASF, the world's leading chemical company, was named by the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) the winner of the 2010 CPI "Innovation Award" during the closing session of the 2010 Technical Conference. BASF was selected for FilterPave® Porous Pavement System.

FilterPave was developed by BASF and Presto Geosystems of Appleton, Wisconsin. The pavement combines specially treated post-consumer recycled glass with a polyurethane binder to create a porous surface for use in stormwater management applications. This nearly eliminates runoff and helps replenish the local aquifer with clean, naturally filtered water.

The product provides several advances over traditional hard surface pavements, addressing environmental issues in an attractive and cost-effective manner (see www.filterpave.com).

The CPI also recognized BASF's Dr. David Bower at the conference with the "Best Presentation Award" in the CASE 1 Technical Session for Filterpave Porous Paving System - An Innovative Hard Surface Pavement Using Post-Consumer Recycled Glass. The paper was submitted and co-authored with Bower by Steven Hicks, BASF Corporation and Bill Handlos, Presto Geosystems.

In addition to the innovation and presentation awards, BASF submitted five
