BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals Unveils Two New Total Release Products for the Greenhouse Market

Mozart(TM) TR fungicide and Beethoven(TM) TR miticide/insecticide available on October 1

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC - BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals today announced the launch of Mozart(TM) TR fungicide and Beethoven(TM) TR miticide/insecticide. Both new products deliver active ingredients using Total Release (TR) technology, which gives greenhouse growers labor-saving pest-control coverage with the touch of a button.

BASF's Total Release technology enables growers to save on labor costs and offers excellent plant safety and flexible reentry times. Packaged in an aerosol can, growers simply place Mozart TR or Beethoven TR in their greenhouse-according to label directions-press the release button and leave the area.

"Grower success depends on efficacious products that are easy-to-use, save time and lower costs," said Brian Lish, Business Manager, BASF Professional Turf & Ornamentals. "Mozart TR and Beethoven TR further illustrate BASF's commitment to creating pest control solutions growers want and need to increase profitability."

Mozart TR fungicide, with the active ingredient fludioxonil, controls a broad-spectrum of challenging greenhouse diseases, including alternaria, botrytis, downy mildew, powdery mildew and rust. One six-ounce can of Mozart TR thoroughly covers 4,500 square feet of a greenhouse. In growing conditions with high disease pressure, growers have application flexibility to increase the number of Mozart TR cans to cover every 1,500 square feet of the affected area.

Beethoven TR miticide/insecticide, with the active ingredient etoxazole, controls mites, including the two-spotted spider mite, and suppresses whiteflies. One two-ounce can covers up to 3,000 square feet.

To broaden the spectrum of insect control, growers can use Beethoven TR with BASF's other Total Release insecticides, including Attain® TR insecticide, Pyrethrum® TR insecticide and Duraplex® TR insecticide. Total Release technology eliminates the labor and time associated with traditional tank-mixing. Instead, Total Release products mix in the greenhouse air, or space mix, giving growers more control with less effort.

Mozart TR and Beethoven TR are on sale October 1, 2010 and labeled for use in commercial greenhouses on bedding plants, cut flowers, flowering hanging baskets, potted flowering plants, foliage and ornamentals. Mozart TR is also labeled for use on perennials.
