Baron Appoints Daniel Gallagher as New Public Safety Product Manager

Experienced developer to lead public safety products

Huntsville, AL – Baron, the worldwide provider of critical weather intelligence, proudly announces the hire of Daniel Gallagher as the new Enterprise Product Manager, who will lead the research and development of Baron’s Enterprise Solutions products, with an initial focus on public safety. Daniel is a talented manager, researcher, developer, and meteorologist with more than 18 years of experience in meteorological research and software development.

Daniel brings to his new position diverse expertise, with specialized strengths in product development, research, and weather forecasting. Over his career, Daniel has researched and developed numerous value-added meteorological data products, developed processes to ensure data quality and timeliness, issued tailored forecasts and warnings to commercial and government agencies, and spoken at national conferences regarding companies and their products. “I’m excited to be a part of expanding the Enterprise Solutions division,” Daniel said. “I believe my background as a forecaster and my understanding of the science behind our products will allow me to have a positive impact on the products we bring to market and our customers,” he added.

Daniel first joined Baron in 2006 as a Data Services Meteorologist, where he, among other achievements, worked as a lead developer of a nationwide, patented product that determines real-time impacts of weather conditions on roadways; provided meteorological expertise to development, support, and marketing staff; infused the latest scientific findings, data sources, and technology into company products; ensured data quality and timeliness; and worked as the head of the company's Internship Partnership with the University of Alabama-Huntsville Atmospheric Science program.

In his new role as Enterprise Product Manager, Daniel will develop public safety weather products by identifying potential data and services; conduct market research; generate product requirements; determine specifications, development timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction; assist with developing marketing strategies; and more, including working with sales and management to develop product sales strategy.

Gallagher has been active in the weather community. He was the president of Huntsville’s local chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and National Weather Association (NWA) in 2016. With this organization, Gallagher has provided numerous education opportunities and social events for students and the public. He is also a longtime member of the American Meteorological Society as well as the National Weather Association, serving in a national capacity for the latter as the Chair of the Weather Analysis and Forecasting Committee and the co-chair of the NWA’s annual conference Programming Committee.
