Experts to discuss $12 billion market for location, positioning and tracking technologies

SAN DIEGO, April 14, 2011 - Awarepoint Corporation's CTO and SVP of Engineering, Matt Perkins, will participate in a panel discussion on trends driving location-based services (LBS), a market projected to exceed $12 billion by 2014. Sponsored by CommNexus San Diego, the "Challenges and Opportunities of Indoor Location"will be held on April 19, 2011, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. PDT in San Diego. Panel participants will examine the opportunities, benefits, and challenges of using LBS technologies to track people and equipment in healthcare and other industries.

Perkins is a thought leader on the topic of wireless sensor network technologies and author of 14 U.S.-issued patents. A key innovator for next generation wireless technologies, Perkins oversees development of Awarepoint's Real-time Location System (RTLS) solutions used by health systems to locate employees and equipment and maximize utilization, workflow, and productivity. Perkins is responsible for RTLS system design, simulation, prototype development, and merging innovation with entrepreneurial opportunity to increase Awarepoint's market share in healthcare.

Perkins is responsible for a number of firsts in healthcare, including:

o RF based in-room accurate plug and play technology

o Sterilizable RFID tag

o RTLS system capable of detecting tag-to-tag interactions
