Avanex Achieves European Union's RoHS Compliance Ahead of Deadline


FREMONT, Calif., May 8 // -- Avanex Corporation (NASDAQ:AVNX), a pioneer of intelligent photonic solutions that enable next-generation optical networks, today announced compliance with the European Union (EU) directive 2002/95/EC describing the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in electrical and electronic equipment. Customers may now place orders for RoHS compliant products for all of Avanex's product lines.

Avanex recognizes the importance in removing hazardous materials from electrical and electronic equipment, and has taken important measures to ensure that it meets the July 1, 2006 compliance requirements of the EU directive. Avanex has verified that all raw materials and manufacturing processes used in the production of Avanex products are compliant with this EU directive. Certificates of compliance are now available for all of Avanex's products.
