Automotive Manufacturing Expo Emphasizes Sustainable Automation Solutions

Interactive technology demos and educational training seminars highlighted energy efficient machine control solutions available to automotive engineers looking to increase manufacturing productivity and decrease total operating cost through sustainable automation solutions.

(Auburn Hills, MI - www.boschrexroth-us.com) Over 265 automotive manufacturing engineers attended Bosch Rexroth's 2008 Manufacturing Technology Expo. The two-day event provided an educational forum for all attendees to experience, first hand, the diversity of technology available for maximizing operating efficiency and minimizing environmental impact.

Bosch Rexroth teamed with Distributor Partners Morrell Inc., MICCO and PTS Power Tools & Supply, to conduct the Expo, which took place on October 14th and 15th. Attendees benefited from one-on-one discussions with technology experts, access to numerous training seminars and interactive technology demonstrations, which focused on solutions for the Automotive production areas of Powertrain, Body, Press, Paint Shop and Final Assembly.

Educational seminars offered everything from practical guidelines for specific tasks to analyses of overall cost and energy savings, with topics that included Safety, Lean Manufacturing, Energy Savings in Factory Automation, Fieldbus Comparison, Electro-Hydraulic Advancements, Electro-Mechanical Actuators, Compact DC Tightening Controls, Adaptive Welding, Simplified Pick & Place Systems, Electrical Grounding Techniques and PLC Programming.

"The objective of the Expo was to provide a forum for attendees to converse on the latest industry trends and learn about the technology available from Bosch Rexroth that is charting the course to higher manufacturing productivity, sustainable automation solutions and lower total operating cost," explained Tom Taylor, Director of Automotive Sales, Bosch Rexroth.

Dave Andrea, Vice President of the Original Equipment Suppliers Association, addressed trends in automotive manufacturing in a keynote address titled The State of The Automotive Industry-The Suppliers' Perspective. "American automotive suppliers are facing incredible challenges right now growing global operations and organizations with severe capital constraints" cited Andrea. "And while current absolute demand is still very much an unknown, there will be demand and eventually, higher volumes. By realigning the customer mix, refining manufacturing processes, working to grow investment confidence, retooling the supply base, and returning to innovation, North America can and will remain a major vehicle production center."
