AT&T Will Answer the Call in Davenport, Iowa, with New Customer Care Center


Elected Officials, Civic Leaders and AT&T Executives Officially Start Construction of $19.3 Million Facility

DAVENPORT, Iowa, March 21 -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that today was the official groundbreaking at 5348 Elmore Circle for the development of a state-of-the-art 74,250- square-foot customer care center serving AT&T's wireless customers in the West region.

The new $19.3 million center will bring more than 500 new jobs to the area and have a construction impact on the community estimated to be $28.4 million. The center will have an annual payroll of nearly $11 million with jobs that include customer service, information technology, human resources and management.

"Today is a historic day for Cingular, now AT&T, and the city of Davenport as we begin the construction of our customer care center, which will benefit the Quad Cities, our employees and customers," said Dan Kramer, executive director of customer service at AT&T's wireless unit. "We are proud to bring this new project to reality in the heartland of America."

"We are excited to have AT&T in Davenport," said Ed Winborn, Davenport mayor. "This project creates more than 500 quality new jobs -- the largest number of new jobs for Davenport in the last 20 years. We look forward to a lasting partnership in the future."

Construction on the project will be led by Atlanta-based Integra Construction, and ADEVCO Corporation is the development company. Construction is expected to be completed later this year.

To commemorate the occasion, AT&T presented a charitable donation of $10,000 to Becky Clark, executive director of the Mississippi Valley Boys and Girls Club.
