ASTM International to Hold Ninth International Symposium on Bearing Steel Technologies in November

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-The Ninth International Symposium on Bearing Steel Technologies: Advances in Rolling Contact Fatigue Strength Testing and Related Substitute Technologies, will be held Nov. 17-18 at the Marriott Waterside Tampa in Tampa, Fla. Sponsored by ASTM Committee A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys, the symposium will be held in conjunction with the committee's fall standards development meetings.

The international nature of the ASTM bearing steel symposia makes them a unique forum for the presentation and discussion of global bearing steel technologies. This ninth symposium will continue the tradition. Papers will be presented on, but not limited to, the following topics:
  • Advances in the understanding of the rolling contact fatigue process and related test methods for: automotive, off-highway, aerospace, railway, wind energy, etc.;
  • Material testing, accelerated rolling contact fatigue testing;
  • Substitute test methods, such a metallographic, X-ray diffraction, ultrasonic testing etc.;
  • Advances in full bearing rolling contact fatigue test methods and application condition simulation; and
  • Development in the understanding of the statistics of rolling contact fatigue testing.

    Online registration opens approximately eight weeks before the workshop and closes Nov. 19. The fee to attend for ASTM members is $320 USD for online registration and $345 USD for onsite registration. The fee to attend for non-ASTM members is $345 USD for online registration and $370 USD on site. There is no fee for presenters, session chairs and students with a valid ID.
