Original Press Release:
Proposed New ASTM Specification Will Cover Zinc Alloys for Spin Casting
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-ASTM International Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys is currently working on a proposed new ASTM International standard for zinc alloys being used for spin casting.
The proposed standard, ASTM WK30745, Specification for Zinc Alloys for Spin Casting, is being developed by Subcommittee B02.04 on Zinc and Cadmium.
According to Bernard Potts, president of Village Casting Inc., and a member of B02, the use of the proposed new standard will allow for the production of castings that consistently meet ASTM B952, Specification for Zinc Alloys in Ingot Form for Spin Casting.
All interested parties are invited to join in the development of ASTM WK30745. Potts notes that the subcommittee is particularly interested in assistance in mechanical and physical testing of the alloys. This data will help in developing an ASTM specification for the castings produced using these alloys.
The subcommittee also welcomes participation on currently proposed revisions to ASTM B952.
