ASTM Committee presents Award of Merit to Dr. Weston Tew.

ASTM Temperature Measurement Committee Presents Award of Merit to Dr. Weston Tew
Weston Tew, Ph.D., a staff physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Gaithersburg, Maryland, has received the ASTM International Award of Merit. It is ASTM’s highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities, and includes the title of fellow.
ASTM Committee E20 on Temperature Measurement presented the award to Tew in honor of his exemplary leadership and contributions to the development of industry standards. A member of ASTM since 1997, Tew chairs the Fundamentals in Thermometry Subcommittee and previously chaired the Subcommittee on New Thermometers and Techniques for several years.
A recognized expert in the field of thermometry, Tew has been working in the fields of thermal and electrical metrology sector for more than 35 years. He was a staff physicist in the NIST Process Measurements Division since from 1993 to 2010, and has been in his current role in the the NIST Sensor Science Division since 2011.
Tew holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Antioch University and received his doctorate in physics from the University of Colorado. Outside ASTM, he is a member of the American Physical Society, the International Electrotechnical Commission, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
