ASM International Announces Seven New Digital Short Courses

MATERIALS PARK, OHIO (PRWEB) MARCH 12, 2019 - ASM International is pleased to announce the addition of seven new Digital Short Courses to the ASM Materials Solutions Education course offerings. The new modules are part of a continuum of learning options within ASM’s physical laboratory/classrooms, online references, and Customized On-Site Training classes held at client locations.

The Digital Short Courses bring a new style of online education to the materials science community. These digitally mastered tutorials offer rich animations and eye-catching graphics. All courses are about 1 1/2 hours long with interactive lesson plans and quizzes throughout to review the knowledge students gain. All seven classes are derived from ASM’s industry leading “Metallurgy for the Non-Metallurgist®”. Three courses are now ready to view and four more are being finalized throughout 2019.

Course titles include: 

  • Mechanical Properties and Their Measurement
  • Materials Characterization and the Selection Process
  • Heat Treatment of Carbon & Alloy Steels
  • Strengthening Mechanisms
  • Types of Corrosion
  • Corrosion Prevention
  • Metallographic Techniques

The classes can be used as prerequisites or starter courses toward ASM’s in-depth laboratory classroom curricula. All courses are priced at $275 for members and recognize course participants with Continuing Education Units or CEUs. The first Digital Short Course, Mechanical Properties and Their Measurement, won Brandon Hall Group’s 2018 Silver Excellence in Learning Award.
