Promotions Signal Focus on Driving Value via Supply Chain Connections and New Media

Bethesda, MD – The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) recently promoted Malinda Armstrong to Director of Meetings and Expositions, and Jessica Carter to Senior Manager, Web Services.

For the past 17 years, Malinda Armstrong has been an important part of the ASC staff team, holding positions focused on finance, administration, expositions, sponsorships and meetings management.  In recent years, Armstrong has focused on delivering value to members via the Council’s EXPO, including growing the EXPO from 70-80 exhibitors a year, to 150+ exhibitors annually.  In addition, Armstrong has taken on additional responsibilities managing all logistical aspects of the Council’s meetings, including its flagship programs—the Convention and Short Courses—held twice a year, co-located with the ASC’s EXPOs.  Finally, Armstrong has been working with the Adhesion Society as its Office Manager – working closely with the Society’s volunteer leadership to manage its annual meeting and membership efforts.

“Malinda knows ASC’s members very well and has been focused on listening to their needs and responding with new programs, including a large increase in EXPO participants, a speed networking lunch, and developing other networking opportunities within the Convention and EXPO footprint,” notes Matthew E. Croson, President of ASC.  “She has also worked closely with the Marketing Committee to develop new ideas and has added value to the Adhesion Society relationship which began in 2013.  We appreciate and value Malinda’s contributions that touch so many of our industry’s leading companies and members.”

Since Joining ASC in 2011, Jessica Carter has moved quickly to evolve both of the Council’s websites into award-winning connection points for both industry (www.adhesives.org and www.sealants.org), as well as member companies (www.ascouncil.org).   She made ASC’s websites into platforms whereby industry and ASC’s members can connect via web 2.0 technologies including video, blogs, tools, and social media.  During her tenure, social media participation has grown by 314% on LinkedIn and 166% on Twitter.  ASC’s Ask an Expert LinkedIn group now includes more than 2,900 professionals and over seven thousand unique visitors a month browse www.adhesives.org.

Carter was also instrumental in developing new software programs that facilitate member communications to Federal, state and local agencies and connect members via a speed networking lunch.  She launched a Convention APP that allows 550+ attendees to pre-plan their participation in ASC programs.

“Jessica is driving value in new and different ways than ever before seen at ASC as we try new things and experiment with connecting the industry online, via social media and web 2.0 technologies,” adds Croson.  “Her technical experience, coupled with her ability to drive a project forward to completion have been strong parts of her success on behalf of the industry and members we serve.  The result has been strong growth across all of our new media properties, allowing for more information sharing and connections than ever before.”
