ASABE to Revise Equipment Symbol and Display Standards
The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has initiated the national adoptions of two ISO standards for agricultural equipment symbols.
The standards are ISO 3767-1:2016, Tractors, machinery for agriculture and forestry, powered lawn and garden equipment — Symbols for operator controls and other displays, Part 1: Common symbols and Part 2: Symbols for agricultural tractors and machinery. These ISO standards were revised in 2016 and will replace earlier versions of the ISO documents initially adopted by ASABE in 2006. Adoption of the 2016 ISO standard versions will make available on the national level many new symbols utilized internationally.
These adoptions will further harmonize national and international standardization, a goal that facilitates manufacturing, safety advancements and product marketing worldwide.
ASABE is recognized worldwide as a standards developing organization for food, agricultural, and biological systems, with more than 250 standards currently in publication. Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute.
