ASABE to Revise Braking Series Standards

St Joseph, Michigan — The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) is moving forward to revise portions of the ANSI/ASABE S648, Agricultural Field Equipment Braking, series of machinery standards.

Part 4, Requirements for Towed Vehicles, will be revised to make clarifications regarding the definition of towed vehicle types, and Part 5, Requirements for the Interface between Towing Vehicle and Towed Vehicles, will be revised to clarify and correct interface testing criteria.

ASABE is recognized worldwide as a standards developing organization for food, agricultural, and biological systems, with more than 280 standards currently in publication. Conformance to ASABE standards is voluntary, except where required by state, provincial, or other governmental requirements, and the documents are developed by consensus in accordance with procedures approved by the American National Standards Institute.
