American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) adopted, without deviations, 2 international standards for instructional seats and restraining belts on agricultural machinery: ASABE/ISO 3776-2:2015 and ASABE/ISO 23205:2014. These adoptions promote further harmonization of national and international standardization as to facilitate manufacturing, safety advancements, and product marketing worldwide.

ASABE Adopts Two ISO Standards for AG Machinery Seating and Anchorage



ST JOSEPH, MICHIGAN— The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) has adopted without deviations two international standards for instructional seats and restraining belts on agricultural machinery.



ASABE/ISO 3776-2:2013, Tractors and machinery for agriculture — Seat belts — Part 2: Anchorage strength requirements, specifies the strength requirements of the anchorages for pelvic restraint (seat) belts intended to be used by the operators of agricultural tractors and self-propelled machinery.



ASABE/ISO 23205:2014, Agricultural tractors — Instructional seat, specifies the minimum design and performance requirements for an instructional seat and restraint designed for limited use by a trainer or trainee or service person inside an enclosed cab of an agricultural tractor.



These adoptions further harmonize national and international standardization, a goal that facilitates manufacturing, safety advancements and product marketing worldwide.



ASABE members with standards access and those with site-license privileges can access the scope of ASABE/ISO 3776-2:2013 and full-text of ASABE/ISO 23205:2014 in about two weeks.
