Arrow Electronics Launches Web Site Dedicated to Solid State Lighting

New edition of Lighting Selector Guide for engineers also available

MELVILLE, N.Y., March 5 -- The North American Components (NAC) business of Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) today launched a lighting solutions Web site (lighting.arrow.com) featuring multiple suppliers dedicated to the solid state lighting market segment, including high brightness light emitting diodes (HB-LEDs). Also available today in print and online formats is Arrow's new edition of its Lighting Selector Guide, a comprehensive source for lighting solutions.

"High Brightness LED designs are becoming a necessity for traditional lighting companies that had worked with incandescent and fluorescent solutions in the past," said Bob Sagebiel, director, Lighting, Arrow NAC. "With the introduction of the lighting solutions Web site and the new edition of the Lighting Selector Guide, the Arrow Lighting Group offers excellent resources for lighting engineers and designers looking to broaden their options while decreasing their time to market."

Arrow's lighting solutions Web site features manufacturers in Arrow's product portfolio. The site -- one of the first with multiple-vendor parametric search capabilities for HB-LEDs -- allows lighting designers to select from key parameters to narrow search results and link directly to component datasheets or Arrow's online shopping cart. Other Web site features include lighting industry news and events, and links to other Arrow sites, such as arrowdevtools.com, an online development tool selection and purchasing site.

The downloadable Lighting Selector Guide, which is 40 percent larger than the previous volume, is a one-stop resource for lighting engineers and designers looking for guidance in the solid state lighting segment. The Guide includes manufacturer selections for HB-LEDs, ballasts and drivers, controls, thermal management, optics and integrated solutions. It also contains information about Arrow's services and the benefits of lighting technologies.

"HB-LEDs are expanding from the industrial market into residential, retail and outdoor applications, and are replacing incandescent and fluorescent lamps," said Sagebiel. "HB-LEDs have become viable lighting sources offering robust solutions for many challenging lighting applications. Solid state lighting is a multi-billion-dollar segment expected to double over the next five years."

The Arrow Electronics Lighting Group provides products and design alternatives to incandescent, halogen and fluorescent lighting with a wide range of solutions for a variety of applications, such as signs, flashlights, architectural, commercial or backlighting applications.
