Aquatech Receives "Sustainable Design Project of the Year" Award

Canonsburg, PA - At the 128th year of the Engineers Society of Western Pennsylvania's Annual Engineering Banquet, Aquatech received the "Sustainable Design Project of the Year" award. This award was for their Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Technology for treating FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) wastewater at five coal fired power plants spread out around the coastal regions of Italy owned by country's largest utility ENEL. Aquatech designed, supplied, installed and commissioned these innovative ZLD systems. This solution offered by Aquatech converted highly contaminated wastewater stream in to dry solids which were disposed of in designated land fill and eliminated any waste water discharge in to the environment.

This Banquet is held in conjunction with the National Engineers Week program, and it is their goal each year to recognize an exemplary engineer and an outstanding project from the Western Pennsylvania region. The attention that these awards will bring will highlight the important contributions engineers make to our society. It is the hope that these awards will represent a meaningful impetus in attracting the best minds to the field and encouraging those in the field to excel at their work.
