ANSI Seminar to address American National Standard process.

On March 2, 2016, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm EST, ANSI will host one-day seminar titled, The American Way: The American National Standard Development Process. Participants will learn why U.S. voluntary consensus standards are important, discover ANSI’s role in the U.S. standardization system, and get an overview of different types of accreditation. Course is intended for staff from standards developing organizations who administer the American National Standards process.

Register for March Event: The American Way Course on the American National Standard (ANS) Process



Mark your calendar: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will host a one-day seminar on the American National Standard (ANS) development process and procedures on March 2, 2016, from 8:30a.m.-4:00p.m. EST at ANSI’s New York office. Participants who enroll in The American Way: The American National Standard (ANS) Development Process will learn why U.S. voluntary consensus standards are important, discover ANSI’s role in the U.S. standardization system, and get an overview of different types of accreditation.



The course is intended for staff from standards developing organizations who administer the American National Standards process. The course also provides a good starting point for those who are considering becoming an ANSI-accredited standards developer.



Participants will gain a better understanding of the following:


  • U.S. voluntary consensus standardization process


  • Accreditation process for developers of American National Standards (ANS)


  • ANSI development process and procedures, and submittal of standards to ANSI for approval


  • ANS forms


  • Maintenance of accreditation requirements including the ANSI audit program, and how an audit can help accredited standards developers


  • The role and motivation of subjectmatter experts in the development process


  • Importance of due process provisions within the ANS process and implementation options and requirements


Participants will also have an opportunity to learn effective ANS administration tips and techniques and other helpful guidance.
