ANSI announces registration for annual plenary meeting.

Register Today for the Annual HSSP Plenary Meeting
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) would like to remind all interested stakeholders to register for the Homeland Security Standards Panel (HSSP) eighth annual Plenary meeting. To be held on October 21, 2009, at the Renaissance Washington, DC hotel, the meeting will address homeland security standards and their business application in the private sector.
Several topics of interest will be covered through dedicated sessions:
Transit security standardization
This session will address the high-level findings of the ANSI-HSSP Workshop on Transit Security Standardization in January 2009. These include the key areas of video analytics and surveillance, access control and intrusion detection, and explosives detection equipment.
Emergency preparedness for persons with disabilities and special needs
Participants will learn more about HSSP efforts related to standardization gaps in emergency preparedness for persons with disabilities and special needs. These include the priorities identified at the ANSI-HSSP Workshop on Emergency Preparedness for Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs in February 2009, particularly those that relate to the built environment and operations.
Cyber risk
This session will detail joint efforts of ANSI and the Internet Security Alliance (ISA) in Phase II of their work with cyber risk. Phase I focused on providing questions that organizations and CFOs should be asking to identify and quantify the financial risk associated with cybersecurity. Phase II is focused on developing an broader implementation strategy/process for use by the full C-suite community.
Private sector voluntary certification (PS-Prep)
Title IX states that the Department of Homeland Security "shall adopt one or more appropriate voluntary preparedness standards that promote preparedness, which may be tailored to address the unique nature of various sectors within the private sector." This session will provide an update on the status of standards proposed for the PS-Prep program outlining the criteria used in the selection process.
Homeland security standards and their private-sector application
This session will allow private-sector organizations that have conducted business in compliance with various homeland security standards to share their best practices and experiences in doing so. A particular focus may include radiological and biometric standards.
Homeland security standards resources
The final session of the plenary will provide an introduction to the hierarchical resources cataloging data related to homeland security standards and equipment. Related resources will be introduced, including: Universal Task List, Targeted Capabilities List, Authorized Equipment List, and Responder Knowledge Base.
