Andes Opens New Midwest Facility

LEWISVILLE, Texas – Andes Coil Processors has expanded beyond its Texas base with the opening of Andes Midwest, a new toll slitting, warehousing and distribution center in Gary, Indiana.

Rick Blair has been hired as an Andes vice president and will be in charge of Andes Midwest. He previously was operations manager of Metal Processing Corp. in Gary for 18 years.

Coil is now being delivered to the 40,000-square-foot Gary facility in the Great Lakes Industrial Center, 201 Mississippi St. Howard Pena, president of Andes Coil Processors, said slitting began today using a 72-inch x 50,000-pound Pro Eco slitting line, and a tractor-trailer fleet is ready to make Midwest deliveries.

“We see tremendous opportunity in the Midwest market,” Pena said. “With our new regional facility in Gary under Rick Blair’s direction, we can offer steel users a new, better resource, especially distributors and OEM's needing timely and just-in-time service and geographic proximity to major Midwest steel mills."
