American Bright Optoelectronics Corporation Brings New Level of Choice to Engineering Services and Assembly Group

American Bright opens the doors to other manufacturer's optoelectronic devices for design and assembly services.

Chino, Ca. November 30th, 2007 - American Bright Optoelectronics Corporation announced today that their industry leading, independent Engineering Services Group (ESG) has begun to actively include LEDs from other leading manufactures of optoelectronic devices to meet the growing demand for specialty designs. This strategic decision was made after carefully evaluating existing industry trends and technologies, and coming to the conclusion that there were many application-specific advantages that could be gained by incorporating a wider scope of existing and emergent products. The leadership team of the Engineering Services Group, after careful research, determined that there were several well-known LED manufacturers that had developed products possessing distinct advantages in lighting-related applications. Furthermore, these LED manufacturers had done a great job of creating name recognition and knowledge of their products within the lighting industry The team concluded that, by incorporating the clients' preferred LEDs, a broader, more valuable range of services could be bundled together, providing a choice that is truly unique in the industry today.

"The Engineering Services Group and LED Assembly Division is run as an independent profit center, completely separate from the discrete LED component business. As such, the assembly division, unlike many of our competitors, is in no way limited to using just American Bright LEDs," Lawrence Lee, North American Sales Manager explained. "As a result, we have worked on a number of lighting projects utilizing other companies' LEDs. One current example was our ESG's selection of Nichia's high power LEDs mounted on metal core printed circuit boards produced by Bergquist," Mr. Lee illustrated. "This combination of technologies and suppliers was the best choice for the customer, and in the end the value we add as a dedicated engineering and assembly group was enhanced and the client wins on all fronts." Lee further commented, "Our core competency at the factory level is LED technology and the proper handling of LEDs. This expertise is not limited to just our company's own LEDs. Every time that I present our LED assembly services to a customer, I can be confident that the aggregate years of specific experience with LED technology that our team brings to the table with every project, will by far exceed anything that any general contract manufacturer will bring to bear."

"In many of our original lighting designs, we have utilized other companies' LEDs," added George Lee, President of American Bright. "In the big picture, our aim is to bring solid assembly work and viable, impressive solid-state lighting products to the marketplace. At American Bright, we recognize that using the right LED for each application is a key point in proper solid-state lighting design," Lee concluded.

LEDs from Nichia, Osram, Lumileds and others have been approved for integration and specification in designs originating from within the division. In some cases the Engineering Services Group has reviewed customer designs and sent them directly to the Assembly Division with the bills-of-materials-including the specified LEDs-unaltered.

"As the solid-state lighting evolution continues to gain momentum, the strategic decision to align ourselves with companies that bring certain areas of expertise to the table-whether it be in the area of high performance LEDs, thermal management, optics, or driver technology-will serve to render American Bright an even more effective service provider," George Lee summarized.
