Ambrell Sells EASYHEAT to Carbide Tooling Manufacturer
Client turned to induction for brazing PCD inserts to carbide for manufacturing cutting tools
Scottsville, NY - Ambrell, a leading manufacturer of induction heating systems, has sold an EASYHEAT induction heating system to a carbide tooling manufacturer. The client will use the EASYHEAT for brazing PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) inserts to carbide for manufacturing cutting tools.
The client was developing a new process to braze cutting tools ranging from 1/8” (3.2 mm) to over 1” (25.4 mm) in diameter. Induction was chosen because it can heat the parts to temperature in less than the targeted time of 20 seconds and it’s highly controllable so there’s no risk of overheating the carbide.
The client chose Ambrell thanks to free applications testing, which offered peace-of-mind as they knew the heating process would achieve their requirements prior to purchasing the unit. Additionally, the versatile EASYHEAT – which enables users to adjust taps and capacitors – allows them to heat parts with different diameters and lengths.
