All Appli-Tec Products Meet OSHA's GHS Labeling - SDS Guidelines
OSHA's updated Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) 29 CFR 1910.1200 requires chemical manufacturers, importers and distributors to label all containers of hazardous chemicals and to supply properly formatted Safety Data Sheets (SDS) – for the smallest of syringes to large drums.
We're pleased to announce that Appli-Tec has been in compliance with the new Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and OSHA's SDS mandate since early spring 2015 – well in advance of OSHA's December 2015 deadline.
Creating labels that met OSHA's complex requirements took well over a year of research and development – especially since we had to figure out a way to get all of the information needed into a very small space. A 3cc syringe, for example, has a barrel that's 2.2 inches long and less than 0.5 inches in diameter. Very small!
After considerable trial and error, we ended up creating a database that houses the hazards and pictograms and then cross-referenced these with our individual formulations. We then created our own labels.
As part of complying with the new standard, Appli-Tec employees underwent training and we updated our record management process as well.
Compliance also meant creating all new SDS (formerly MSDS) for every single product we ship, including products made from 3M, Henkel, Loctite, Emerson Cuming and other manufacturers.
What all this means is that as our customer, you can confidently use any of our products without having to worry about non-compliance issues, supply chain interruptions, or safety risks. Each product that leaves our facility is properly labeled in accordance with GHS and is accompanied by an SDS.
