Alibre Design Brings Bright Ideas to Kids & Adults at TEDxSMU & TEDxKIDS 2010

TEDx Non Profit Events Provide World Changing Ideas

Short, Exciting Presentations by Astounding Thinkers Inspire All

Dallas, TX, October 21, 2010 - Alibre, Inc. www.alibre.com, the developer of the world's most affordable professional 3D design solutions, announced today that it co-sponsored and participated in the non-profit TEDxSMU and TEDxKIDS 2010 events, bringing the best ideas of today's minds together for two days of technological inspiration for the next generation of scientists, engineers, artists, doctors, marketers, DIYers, inventors and entrepreneurs.

Held last week in Dallas, Texas, TEDxSMU & TEDxKIDS merged interesting people from around the world in the areas of technology, entertainment and design, supporting world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. Short, exciting presentations by astounding thinkers on a broad array of topics, ranging from the science of yo-yos to space exploration, inspired both kids and adults alike. "We are honored to be involved with TEDx and TEDxKIDS -- prestigious events that take students out of their everyday classroom environments and bring them into a setting where their teachers are the people actually thinking and executing big ground-breaking ideas," said J. Paul Grayson, CEO of Alibre Inc.

TEDxSMU Skunkworks Team Create GPS Vehicle Controlled via Cell Phone with Alibre Design

Alibre Inc. helped bring the TEDxSMU event to Dallas through its key sponsorship, and provided two presenters with Alibre's award winning design software, Alibre Design. One of the key TEDxSMU presenters, Nathan Huntoon, Director of the Innovation Gymnasium, Southern Methodist University (SMU), showed a GPS controlled unmanned vehicle activated via a cell phone interface, which was created in the SMU SkunkWorks Lab by Huntoon's students, including co-presenter Austin Hodges. The SkunkWorks Team used Alibre to design and place all the parts of their vehicle, before they ever built it. "What is amazing, is the students designed the vehicle in 3D first and when it came time to fit all the parts together, every piece fell in place perfectly," said Huntoon. The unique vehicle can be seen live at TEDxSMU at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvV0CnNgesA.

TEDxKIDS Showcases Alibre 3D Designed Anodized Yo-Yos for Master Play

At the TEDxKIDS event, inventor Mark Mankiewicz brought his String Theory YoYos Team to wow the crowd. Mankiewicz used Alibre Design to invent a line of professional aluminum yo-yos, sending his 3D model over the Internet to be mass produced. Selling all over the world, these brightly colored yo-yos are anodized and laser engraved for master play using advanced yo-yo techniques. While yo-yo experts, Jamie Larkins, Mason McCall, and Leo Qin, amazed everyone with their skills, Mankiewicz spoke of how he created his business, inspiring the kids with his "can do" attitude. "It is a great honor to present at TEDxKIDS. I have always been a fan. I was hoping to convey a message of hope to future entrepreneurs, that anything is possible and never listen to people who tell you it can't be done. If your heart follows your passion, you can never fail." See the video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDGCkXV8MOU.
