The 'AlarmManagement' module in Delphin's ProfiSignal software is a software option providing a range of alarm functions for data acquisition and process automation. This module comprises two components: alerting and alarm tables.
The alerting component monitors alarm sources, records alarms, and is responsible for initiating actions in the event of an alarm. Alerts are configured within the DataService/Configurator software which is available with any Delphin hardware device.
The rules and conditions for triggering alarms are recorded and stored. Users can also categorize an alarm's importance and significance by setting up alarm classes and priorities. Notifications to users in the event of alarm can be sent via email, fax or text message (with the relevant hardware and software available).
Alarms can be portrayed within ProfiSignal. All available ProfiSignal versions include the option for global alarm lists. This comprises a single alarm table which lists every alarm event.
In ProfiSignal Basic and Klicks versions, the alarm table is optionally available as a visualization object (the AlarmManagement option). Users can then set up multiple alarm tables with different alarm classes to separately monitor alarms in different areas. Machine group or system sections can then be individually and simultaneously portrayed in different alarm tables. The option makes it much easier to configure alarms, set conditions and perform analyses.
As part of their process, many technicians need to simultaneously monitor a range of different sections of a system. However, this risks operators losing sight of the events taking place. By separating the alerts, operators are then able to focus on their main tasks. To this end, the AlarmManagement module is an add-on to ProfiSignal Basic or Klicks.
