AIT Worldwide Logistics Continues Crusade Against Breast Cancer

Because October serves as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, organizations such as the American Cancer Society have drawn significant attention to some truly disturbing statistics: women have an estimated one in eight chance of developing breast cancer, and approximately 40,410 American women and 460 men will die from breast cancer this year.

It is startling facts like these that prompted AIT Worldwide Logistics, a global transportation and logistics provider headquartered in Itasca, IL, to take action in recognizing survivors, honoring victims, and educating men and women in the fight against breast cancer.

On Oct. 16, 2005, AIT employees, friends, and families laced up their walking shoes to return for the fifth consecutive year as the flagship sponsor for the inaugural Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® walk (MSABC) in Chicago. This is a 5-mile walk supporting the American Cancer Society's vision to fight cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient services.

Since its partnership with the American Cancer Society in 2000, AIT Worldwide Logistics has had a total of 1,337 walkers striding towards eradicating the deadly disease, and the company has raised in excess of $218,500 through unique year-round internal and external fundraising projects, including "Making ¢ents of Cancer."

Among the various organizations and causes with which the corporate culture at AIT has committed themselves, the MSABC event remains closest to their hearts. Pink has become the company's power color, symbolizing employee's compassion, generosity, and pledge to find a cure.
