Statement by Aerospace Industries Association President and CEO Marion C. Blakey on the passing of former Rep. Isaac N. “Ike” Skelton (D-Mo.)



Arlington, Va. – Today we mourn the loss of former Rep. Isaac N. “Ike” Skelton (D-Mo.), a dedicated servant of his Missouri constituents and the American people.



First elected to Congress in 1976, Skelton served for 34 years.  From 1998 to 2006, he was Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Committee, and Chairman from 2006 to 2010.  A noted military expert and historian, Skelton was always able to reach across the aisle to get things done for the



Skelton was a true guardian of our armed forces, making sure they had state-of-the-art equipment and protective gear when going into harm’s way.  Our condolences are with his family; he will be sorely missed.
