AGM Offers Award-Winning Manufacturing Services, Stability

Tucson, AZ (07/13/11) - Four decades of success and continued growth are impressive hallmarks for any company, but they mean even more in today's sluggish economy. AGM Container Controls, Inc., an Arizona manufacturer of products that protect and extend the life of critical equipment, continues to grow its product line and workforce, demonstrating flexibility, innovation, strength of leadership and a commitment to its employees.

In business since 1970, AGM designs and manufactures products that control and monitor moisture (desiccators and humidity indicators), pressure and vacuum changes (breather valves) and shock and vibration (tie downs and shock overload indicators). These products serve numerous purposes in the defense, aerospace, electronic and electro-optical industries, as well as in industrial and commercial markets.
The award-winning small business manufactures Ascension Portable Wheelchair Lifts to provide wheelchair access to stages and platforms. In the past, AGM has manufactured more than 150 lifts for the New York City's Board of Education, the largest school district in the country. More recently, AGM has introduced a new low-rise wheelchair lift to their product line, which is called Prodigy. This latest lift has the reliability and durability of their previous lifts, but sells for thousands less.

Despite the challenges of the recession, AGM has also worked hard to retain employees. In addition, AGM has recently expanded its workforce from a low of 93 employees in 2010, up to 116 as of July 2011.

With flexibility and careful planning, the family-run company has proactively avoided layoffs for the past 20 years. Howard N. Stewart, AGM's President and CEO, and AGM's management team developed an 11-step plan for avoiding employee layoffs. They successfully executed the annually reviewed plan in late 2009 and early 2010 during the economic downturn, and were able to avoid terminating any employees. Because of the successful implementation of this well-planned strategy, AGM then had the requisite manpower to meet the strong sales demand that followed.

In July 2011, AGM made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. for the third consecutive year. With continued growth, innovative business planning and a strong commitment to employees, it's easy to see why AGM has been recognized numerous times over the years, both locally and nationally, for business growth and retention, manufacturing excellence, workplace environment and more. In fact, AGM was recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as "America's Small Business" of the Year 2009.
