Agilent Technologies Partners with Sonim Technologies to Provide OMA-PoC Testing Capability

PALO ALTO and SAN MATEO, Calif., June 20, 2006 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) and Sonim Technologies today announced a cooperative effort to provide Push to Talk over Cellular (PoC) test capability on Agilent's Wireless Communications Test Set. Agilent and Sonim are working with their respective customers to ensure that fully interoperable Open Mobile Alliance (OMA)-PoC handsets are delivered to market in time for carrier launch activities later in 2006.

As part of this collaborative effort, Sonim has provided Agilent with its PoC client and server solutions, which were used to verify the Agilent PoC test capability. In turn, Agilent has provided Sonim with its 8960 Wireless Communications Test Set instrument for benchtop network test.

Targeted at developers, integrators, phone manufacturers, and anyone else testing, developing or integrating PoC capabilities into wireless mobile devices, Agilent's PoC test capability offers a much more convenient and economical solution for testing and debug of user-supplied servers, clients and applications. The 8960 PoC solution accurately simulates a real network in a bench-top solution, eliminating the need to use conformance systems or a real network during the design and debug phases of PoC solutions. This reduces the time, expense and effort required to verify PoC performance.

Sonim's wireless VoIP platform consists of server, client and handset solutions that deliver a highly optimized push-to-talk experience while retaining 100-percent compliance with OMA-PoC and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) standards. Sonim PoC has been in used in more than 50 trial deployments over the past 24 months and is now commercially available for carrier and handset-vendor customers.

"We are pleased to be working with Sonim, a recognized leader in the emerging PoC field, and using its OMA-PoC 1.0 end-to-end solution," said Earl Thompson, president and general manager with Agilent's Wireless Division. "Since we began working with the company earlier this year, we have increased our expertise with PoC technology. We are now leveraging this knowledge to more fully support our customers who have been using our instruments for PoC test using their own servers and clients."

"Our partnership with Agilent has addressed two pressing business needs: providing us best-in-class test equipment that we can leverage for continual optimization of our wireless VoIP products, and offering the handset-vendor market immediate access to test tools that support the new OMA-PoC 1.0 standard for push-to-talk interoperability," said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim Technologies. "Together we are helping to bring a range of OMA-PoC compliant products to market in 2006."

The Agilent PoC test capability is available via a range of Agilent lab applications for the Agilent 8960 Wireless Communications Test Set. The 8960 is the first wireless device tester, available today, to provide bench-top connectivity for testing and debug of user-supplied PoC servers, clients and applications.
