Agenda Now Available for May 26 NESCC Meeting

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) have released an agenda for the third meeting of the Nuclear Energy Standards Coordination Collaborative (NESCC), to be held on May 26, 2010.

NESCC is a joint initiative formed to identify and respond to the current needs of the nuclear industry. The activity provides a cross-stakeholder forum to facilitate and coordinate the timely identification, development, and revision of standards for the design, operation, development, licensing, and deployment of nuclear power plants. Standards for other nuclear technologies, including advanced reactor concepts, will also be addressed.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. at NIST headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD. Registration for this meeting is required by Monday, May 17. Click here to register.

Topics to be covered include:

Current and future use of IEEE and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) consensus standards in the regulation of digital instrumentation and control systems in the nuclear power industry

Catawba Nuclear Station's use of polyethylene piping

Risk-informed standards and the joint American Nuclear Society Risk-Informed Standards Committee (ANS RISC) / ASME Committee on Nuclear Risk Management (CNRM) committee

Update on Department Of Energy / Nuclear Regulatory Commission / NIST Interagency Agreement

Task group reports on concrete, task group proposals on polymeric piping for nuclear plants and structural design and performance, and a standards database will also be discussed.

All stakeholders are invited to register, including standards developing organizations (SDOs), consortia and other forums, industry, government, and consumers. The event is free of charge, and attendance via teleconference will be available for registered participants. See the draft agenda for dial-in information.
