Advantech Launches Innovative Early Design Program to Cement Its Brand Promise

October, 17, 2006, Taipei - Advantech has for 4 years in a row, successfully commanded a niche in Taiwan's Top 20 Global Brands - and in 2004, muscled its way to a top 10 spot as a dark horse. To further cement its brand value, Advantech is introducing a series of Innovative Early Design Programs in Q4, taking a proactive approach to brainstorm and develop new lines of products, and to study a variety of application scenarios in which these products are put to use. Advantech hopes to establish a solid foundation for sustainable growth through systematic product innovation programs.

Innovative Product Design as the Nexus for Future Sustainable Branding
Little by little, Advantech has shaken itself free from product-oriented thinking ofthe past to evolve new application-oriented strategies. Advantech CEO KC Liu elaborated on the notion of Innovative Product Design, "We strive after visionary computing and this is a forward looking ePlatform initiative that promises to truly elevate and engage human lifestyle. That's the vision that propels us to embark on a new mission- that's the early design program."

Innovative Early Design Programs consist of five major projects including:
1. Product managers attending In-Exhibition Early Design Workshops in vertical market oriented exhibitions around the world to absorb new product ideas.
2. Frontline sales representatives and target customers to convene at Early Design Focus Group Workshops to bring in new product ideas.
3. Setting up Focus Labs in selected universities to jointly develop new technologies within academia.
4. Setting up Innovative Early Design Online Forums to encourage internal discussion of new ideas within Advantech's global employees.
5. Careful evaluation and selection of products with the best potential through Early Industrial Design Workshops using a "User-Centered Innovative Design Process" Methodology.

The Innovative Early Design Programs will be set into motion through collaboration between industry and academia. CEO KC Liu stressed that, "Our chance to make a breakthrough on product development is by working closely with schools, which in turn empowers us to give back to the community." He even went as far as saying, "Value lies in innovation in the Knowledge Economy Era," meaning innovation does not grow from nothing, rather, it is about "the integration of sporadic creative elements and the disciplined systematic execution of a productive policy."

Advantech never hesitates in meeting the demands of its customers, and is whole-heartedly committed to innovative product research; this explains why Advantech is where it is today as a market pioneer. Advantech will pursue closer ties with academia in the future to systematically induce new innovative energy and creative forces into the company, and usher in a new era of global industrial computing prowess!
