Advance Program for ICALEO® 2006 Available

Orlando, Fla. - The Laser Institute of America (LIA), the professional society for lasers, applications and safety, announces the availability of the Advance Program for its 25 th International Congress on Applications of Lasers & Electro-Optics (ICALEO® ). The Advance Program provides details for all the technical sessions, poster presentations, business development session, vendor exhibits and short courses offered during ICALEO® 2006, to be held Oct. 30-Nov. 2 in Scottsdale, Ariz., USA.

ICALEO® 2006 General Chair Andreas Ostendorf of Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V., Hannover, Germany, said, "Don't miss this unique opportunity to improve your knowledge in the field of laser applications and make use of all the different networking opportunities ICALEO® has provided to its participants for a quarter of a century. Although there has been steady progress in laser applications during this 25-year period, the current dynamics in the industrial use of laser systems have never been higher than today."

Returning ICALEO® features include the Laser Materials Processing Conference, the Laser Microprocessing Conference, the Poster Presentation Gallery and the Laser Solutions Short Courses. These conferences and sessions provide information on laser applications in several areas, along with sessions on fiber laser processing, laser processing of biological material, technologies for nanofabrication, materials processing diagnostics, and more.

"Whatever your interest in laser materials processing, I am sure ICALEO® 2006 will feature an interesting balance of academic and application specific papers to stimulate the mind," said Paul Hilton of The Welding Institute, Cambridge, U.K., the Laser Materials Processing Conference chair. "One of the main themes of last year's ICALEO® LMP program was the emergence of more results, particularly in the area of laser welding using high power fiber lasers. This year's program will continue this theme with three sessions devoted to the use of fiber laser sources, and also contains some interesting results using high power disc lasers."

According to the Laser Microprocessing Conference Chair YF Lu of the University of Nebraska Lincoln, Lincoln, Neb., "The challenges and demand for developing new laser technologies for micro/nanofabrication and diagnosis are bigger than ever. This conference will highlight new and exciting achievements in structuring with highest precision using laser pulses from the nanosecond down to the pico- and femtosecond time regime."

This year's plenary session, "25 Years of Laser Processing Looking Back to See the Future," will celebrate the silver 25 th anniversary year of ICALEO® with a speech revisiting the early years and looking ahead at new developments that are continuously emerging.

Back for 2006, the conference committee has organized a business development session, which should be of particular interest for all participants who plan to start up their own company. Valuable experience will be presented with plenty of time to interact with colleagues and experts.
