Absolute Software Expands Computrace Firmware Support to Lenovo ThinkCentre Desktops

Lenovo supports secure IT asset management for customers with mixed laptop/desktop computing environments

VANCOUVER, Nov. 7 -- Absolute Software Corporation (TSX:ABT), the leading provider of firmware-based, patented Computrace® Computer Theft Recovery, Data Protection and Secure Asset Tracking(TM) today announced that Lenovo is now shipping its ThinkCentre®line of business desktops with Computrace embedded support in the BIOS. With this expanded support for Computrace, Lenovo customers can now activate Absolute Software's services on the complete range of ThinkPad® laptops, 3000 Series Notebook computers and ThinkCentre desktops.

"Lenovo understands that unified security and management has become critical across a customer's entire computer population," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software. "By embedding support for Computrace in its popular line of ThinkCentre desktops, Lenovo is giving its business customers the ability to both manage and secure their entire computer populations using a single tool."

Beginning with a February 2005 agreement, Lenovo has embedded support for Absolute Software's computer tracking software product Computrace® in the BIOS of its laptop products. More recently, Lenovo has embedded support for the product across its entire mobile product line - including all new ThinkPad® and 3000 Series Notebook computers. Today's announcement expands Lenovo's support for Computrace in mixed laptop/desktop computer populations by supporting the product in its line of ThinkCentre desktops.

Support for the Computrace agent embedded in the BIOS(1) of computers is shipped turned off and can be activated by purchasing a subscription to one of Absolute Software's Computer Theft Recovery, Data Protection and Secure Asset Tracking(TM) solutions. Once activated, customers can log into an online Customer Center to centrally manage up to 100% of their Internet-connected PC assets from a single user interface. In the event that a computer is stolen or goes missing, Absolute can help recover it or remotely wipe data(2) to ensure that sensitive information does not fall into the wrong hands.
