Absolute's ComputraceProfessional Offered with HP Care Pack Services Program

Solution offers computer tracking, theft recovery and data protection on Hewlett-Packard commercial notebook and tablet PCs

VANCOUVER, Oct. 2 - Absolute® Software Corporation ("Absolute" or the "Company") (TSX: ABT), the leading provider of firmware-based, patented Computer Theft Recovery, Data Protection and Secure Asset Tracking(TM) solutions announced that its Computrace® Professional(TM) solution will be offered as part of the HP Care Pack Services Program.

The HP Accidental Damage Protection with ComputraceProfessional Care Pack Service(1), available as an option on commercial notebook and tablet PCs, offers small business owners protection from physical damage, theft and loss. Featuring a Recovery Guarantee of up to $1,000(2), ComputraceProfessional can remotely delete data on a missing computer, assisting small businesses in meeting the data security and reporting requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), California Senate Bill 1386 and Gramm-Leach-Bliley.

"We are excited to expand our relationship with Hewlett-Packard by providing additional security options for HP customers," said John Livingston, Chairman and CEO of Absolute Software. "The combination of HP Accidental Damage Protection and ComputraceProfessional goes well beyond traditional warranties to offer a full range of protection against accidental damage, computer loss or theft, and potential data breaches.

The Computrace agent that powers ComputraceProfessional is embedded in the BIOS(3) and is shipped turned off. It can be activated by customers when they purchase a subscription with terms ranging from one to four years.

When a computer equipped with ComputraceProfessional is reported stolen, the Computrace agent sends a silent signal over the Internet to Absolute's Monitoring Center, providing critical location information. Absolute then works with local law enforcement to help recover the computer. Embedded in the BIOS firmware of a laptop, the stealthy Computrace agent is capable of surviving operating system re-installations, as well as hard-drive reformats, replacements and re-imaging.

HP Care Pack Services can be purchased along with HP products as an optional service contract to a standard warranty. For many post-warranty products, HP Care Pack Services are available when an original warranty has expired.

The HP Accidental Damage Protection with ComputraceProfessional Care Pack Service is part of the HP Total Care for Small Businesses portfolio, which includes a range of free and premium support, services and programs to help ensure customers receive personalized services for every stage of their computer's life.
