AAMA Releases Document Addressing Comparative Analysis of Windows and Doors



SCHAUMBURG, Ill.-- AAMA 2502-07, a comparative analysis procedure for windows and doors, has been released by the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA). According to Ken Brenden, AAMA technical standards manager, the new 18-page document, titled Comparative Analysis Procedure for Window and Door Products.

This comparative analysis procedure is especially suited for regions where it is desirable to document the performance of each window and exterior door size to meet specific structural design pressure criteria. For window and door manufacturers, the procedure provides a uniform approach for dealing with different code jurisdictions and specific design pressures for each size of fenestration product opening, per Brenden.

"The newly created document includes sections providing direction on determining load distribution, load magnitude, section properties, bending moments, stress calculations, connections, deflections, lateral buckling and numerous graphics depicting the appropriate procedures and formulas," according to Brenden.

The Comparative Analysis Procedure for Window and Door Products is available to members at a cost of $20 for download, $40 for paper copy and $45 for CD.
