6WIND Demonstrates Turbo IPsec for HP Telco Servers and HP OpenNFV Platform at Mobile World Congress

High Performance Software-Based Security Gateways Spotlighted for NFV Use Cases Including vCPE

SANTA CLARA, Calif., – 6WIND, a high-performance software company, today announced it will demonstrate its Turbo IPsec and Virtual Accelerator software in HP's booth at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, March 2-5, 2015. 6WIND Turbo IPsec is a high performance software-based security gateway appliance that can be deployed on x86 servers within bare metal and VM environments. 6WIND Virtual Accelerator provides accelerated virtual switching and networking features for virtual infrastructures to enable NFV, allowing 6WIND's software appliances, such as Turbo IPsec, and third-party VMs to be integrated quickly onto x86-based servers.

6WIND Turbo IPsec delivers Service Providers with the best price/performance ratios when transitioning from hardware to software based appliances by delivering over 100 Gbps throughput and 200,000 IPsec tunnels on standard servers. Popular use cases include small cell backhauling, WiFi hot spot aggregation and enterprise vCPE. Compared to competing hardware-based IPsec gateways, 6WIND Turbo IPsec can save 80% of the cost per gigabit of IPsec throughput.

HP Telco Servers: High Performance Security in Virtual Environments

Within HP's Telco Server demonstration, 6WIND Virtual Accelerator and Turbo IPsec will run on HP's DL380 servers to deliver an NFV compute solution for high performance security in virtual environments. 40 Gbps of IPsec throughput will be shown on a single 2 rack unit HP DL380 server. Combining 6WIND Virtual Accelerator with Turbo IPsec boosts performance for the virtual environment while at the same time freeing up compute resources so that 50% of the processor cores are unused and available for other tasks such as running additional VMs.

HP OpenNFV: IPsec Gateway for Enterprise vCPE

Within the HP OpenNFV demonstration, 6WIND Turbo IPsec will be instantiated within a VM to create a secure VPN tunnel in an enterprise vCPE use case. Turbo IPsec will serve as the software-based IPsec Gateway that resides in a VM on the HP OpenNFV platform at the branch that connects to HP's Virtual Services Router that resides at the Headquarters. Together, 6WIND and HP will demonstrate rapid IPsec VM instantiation to quickly secure connectivity for communication services.

"Combining 6WIND Turbo IPsec and Virtual Accelerator on HP servers enables Service Providers to transition to NFV for high demand use cases such as securing data across the cloud, without sacrificing performance," said Eric Carmès, Founder and CEO for 6WIND. "Our Turbo IPsec gives HP's OpenNFV and Telco Server platforms a tremendous advantage that meets the requirements of NFV with hardware independence, performance, features and management with a simple software download."

"With the ever increasing reality of security breaches, high performance secure connectivity services remain critical for telco providers," said Claus Pedersen, director of HP Server Telco and NFV, HP. "The combination of 6WIND software technology for IPsec and virtual acceleration running on HP servers can enable the highest possible performance for demanding use cases such as securing connectivity across virtual data centers."

Mobile World Congress Demonstrations

6WIND will demonstrate in HP's booth in Hall 3, Stand 3A20. 6WIND will also demonstrate in its own booth in Hall 7, Stand 7M51.
