RIA Webinars Offered Free During National Robotics Week in April

ANN ARBOR, Michigan - National Robotics Week is April 10-17, 2010, during which Robotic Industries Association offers three free webinars about robotics including one on business strategies, one on careers and one on food processing. Robotic Industries Association is the only North American trade association devoted solely to robotics.
Business strategies for using robots are covered during "How Robots Help American Companies Compete in the Global Marketplace." RIA offers viewpoints from robot users in the business sector, including Marlin Steel Wire, Harley-Davidson and Spirit AeroSystems. They share lessons learned from personal experience in the use and implementation of robots. (3-4 PM Eastern, April 13, 2010)

The speaker panel for "Career Opportunities in Robotics" is comprised of RIA veterans from academia and industry. Engineers, faculty and those interested in engineering are invited to discover the exciting possibilities in education, research and industry. Simulation software and real-world applications are examined. (1-2 PM Eastern, April 14, 2010)

"Food Robotics" explores an industry that is ripe for adopting more robots and automation. A guest from the USDA joins a panel of RIA members to talk about sanitary design and implementation of robotics from "soup to nuts." It covers how robots can safely process raw ingredients; improve primary and secondary packaging; handle pallets and even load delivery trucks. (Time and date: 3-4 PM Eastern, April 15, 2010)
Starting in 2010, the second week of April is designated as National Robotics Week by the U.S. Congress. Robotic Industries Association is an official member of the advisory council for this effort. Sponsors of other events list their activities online at the National Robotics Week website. RIA events for National Robotics Week are posted on Robotics Online.

Founded in 1974, RIA represents leading robot manufacturers, component suppliers, systems integrators, end users, academia, research groups and consulting firms. The association sponsors the biennial Automate Show (formerly known as the International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Show) plus many regional events, and is secretariat of the ANSI/RIA R15.06-1999 Robot Safety Standard. RIA also serves as North America's representative to the International Federation of Robotics and is the only source of North American robot sales statistics.
