Textron Elects James L. Ziemer to Board of Directors


PROVIDENCE, R.I Feb 28: Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) today announced that James L. Ziemer has been elected to the company's Board of Directors, effective March 1st, 2007. Ziemer is President and Chief Executive Officer of Harley-Davidson, Inc. Harley-Davidson, Inc. is the parent company for the group of companies doing business as Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Buell Motorcycle Company and Harley-Davidson Financial Services.

With the addition of Ziemer, Textron's Board of Directors is now comprised of eleven independent, non-employee directors, plus Lewis B. Campbell.

Ziemer's career at Harley-Davidson has spanned more than 38 years. He served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 1990 until his election as Chief Executive Officer in April 2005. From 1993 to 2006, he also served as President of the Harley-Davidson Foundation, which provides targeted funding to non-profit initiatives in the company's home communities. In addition, he has served on Harley-Davidson's Board of Directors since December 2004.

Since he began working at Harley-Davidson in 1969, Ziemer has held a series of positions in manufacturing, engineering, accounting, parts and accessories and finance. His first job at the company was in a union position as a freight elevator operator. In 1970, he left Harley-Davidson for a two-year military tour, rejoining the company in 1972.

Ziemer earned BS and MBA degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and is also a Certified Public Accountant. A native of Milwaukee, Ziemer serves on the Board of Directors of Milwaukee Junior Achievement.
