"Titan" Goes to Japan

KUKA Roboter is presenting its comprehensive range of products and services at iREX 2007 in Japan for the first time

Tokyo, November 2007 - KUKA Roboter GmbH, based in Augsburg, Germany, is making its debut appearance at the flagship robotics fair iREX 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. There Europe's leading supplier of industrial robots will be demonstrating more than just a world champion. In addition to the KR 1000 titan, currently the world's strongest industrial robot, the Bavarian company will also be showing visitors a broad cross-section of its high-quality innovations and solutions "Made in Germany".

Following the recent founding of new subsidiary KUKA Robotics Japan KK, the supplier of industrial robots, aims to exploit its presence at the flagship robotics fair to evolve its position long term in the world's largest robot market. Customer and market proximity are a requirement and key to the success of KUKA Roboter GmbH. This is the only way of establishing relationships that lead to the innovative solutions of the future.

The "International Robot Exhibition 2007" (iREX) covers an area of over 25,690 square meters this year. The list of exhibitors includes all the big names from the world of robotics. One of these key players, KUKA Roboter GmbH, is bringing a world champion with it: after notching up its first suc-cesses on the European and American markets, the KR 1000 titan is now set to conquer the Asian market. It is being presented to the Asian public for the first time at the world's largest robotics fair. The strongest robot in the world, already recorded for posterity in the "Guinness Book of Records", will nonetheless have to share the limelight in Tokyo with a whole range of KUKA high-end technologies.

Humans and robots - a guaranteed safe team

KUKA robots are genuine team players. They are capable of working together not only with other robots, but also with human operators. At iREX, the forecast 130,000 visitors will have the opportunity to see this cooperation with KUKA robots for themselves. The two hub technologies KUKA RoboTeam and KUKA SafeRobot are combined in an arc welding cell. A fully-synchronized RoboTeam - consisting of a KR 210 and two arc welding robots of type KR 6 arc - work together on a bicycle frame. Using a manually-guided robot technology, a human operator can inspect the weld seam while the operation is still in progress.


o combined with the "Milling" application module and a KR 60 HA robot with absolutely accurate calibration - is the world's first complete system for automatic CNC machining with a robot.

Standard solutions for cleanroom applications

With a payload capacity of 210 kg, a reach of over 3000 mm, special paint-work and modified seals, the KR 210 CR is ideal for operation in technical cleanrooms. It conforms to air cleanliness class 4/5 according to ISO 14644-1 (EUROPE).

A specialist for the foodstuffs industry

The KR 15 SL has a stainless reputation. It has particular hygienic advantages for the foodstuffs industry. Smooth surfaces largely prevent food residue from sticking. The KR 15 SL is not sensitive to being cleaned with acids or alkalis. With its integrated energy supply system, it is also highly suitable for use in cleanroom conditions without the need for an additional protective suit.

The KR 40 PA can be integrated practically and compactly not only into the booth concept of KUKA Roboter GmbH, but also into any logistics system. Its lightweight aluminum construction and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic arm make it a veritable master of speed and flexibility.
