Compact PC/104-Plus Board Makes Great Ethernet Node
Eugene, OR- VersaLogic Corp. introduces their latest PC/104-Plus Single Board Computer, the Bobcat. This 586-class CPU module offers a great combination of small size, moderate processing power, fanless operation and fast Ethernet at a reasonable price.
System designers can use the Bobcat alone as an Ethernet node or I/O processor card, or combine it with a plug-in video module for applications requiring a video display. Due to its small size the board has a wide range of potential applications including military, medical, gaming, semiconductor, and industrial automation.
This PC/104-Plus module features the Elan SC520 CPU, a low-power 133 MHz 586-class processor. VersaLogic's design team chose this processor because it offers the most robust OS and BIOS support, the longest term availability, the widest set of features and benefits, and the best reliability of the 486/586 CPUs on the market today.
The Bobcat features 10/100 Ethernet, 64 MB of system RAM and DiskOnChip flash socket. Standard I/O includes floppy, IDE, and four COM ports (two RS-232/422/485). The versatile re- programmable BIOS has special embedded features for OEMs. The board is software compatible with Windows, QNX, Linux, RT-Linux, and other popular RTOSs. The PC/104-Plus expansion site allows use of popular PC/104 and PC/104-Plus modules including SVGA, modem, AID, PCMCIA, digital I/O, and other modules available from VersaLogic and a wide variety of other vendors.
The Bobcat is designed for embedded systems requiring long product life-span/availability and high reliability. System designers choose VersaLogic boards such as the Bobcat for their high reliability features such as soldered-on RAM, watchdog timer, voltage sensing reset circuit, industrial long-life battery, and self-resetting fuses for keyboard and mouse power. Standardized components sourced from multiple vendors increase product longevity and reduce problems with obsolescence and upgrades. VersaLogic targets a minimum availability of 5 years for all of its embedded OEM products.
The Bobcat will be featured at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Francisco March 13-15 at VersaLogic's booth, #1547.
This board is currently available from stock. Pricing is $381 in OEM quantities.
