Milacron Introduces the Industry's First Interactive Technical Manual
New resource for laptops poised to save processors significant time and money in machine maintenance
Batavia, Ohio - Plastics processors everywhere have a new weapon for efficient machine maintenance. Milacron introduces the industry's first Interactive Technical Manual (ITM(TM)) - a convenient tool for laptops and tablet computers that makes it easier than ever to keep equipment operating at peak performance.
Milacron's ITM gives machine technicians immediate access to critical, detailed information about their plant equipment. With just a few clicks, they can troubleshoot an issue, determine a possible solution and order replacement parts from ServTek, Milacron's global aftermarket parts and service division.
After debuting to enthusiastic customer reviews at NPE2012, the ITM is now available and is standard with all new MagnaŽ T Servo (MTs) injection molding machines - with support for more platforms coming in early 2013.
"At every level of our organization, Milacron listens carefully and understands our customers' needs. For example, we know that labor time and technical expertise are at a premium, including when it comes to machine maintenance," said Dave Lawrence, President - Plastics Machinery Injection/Extrusion and Mold Technologies. "That's why we focus on innovations like the ITM. As a world leader in processing technologies, we're able to draw on our deep resources and capabilities to bring our customers essential solutions that save them time and money."
The interactive machine hydraulic schematics display a graphical representation of each functional cycle stage. Innovative troubleshooting flow diagrams assist technicians in determining which component is creating the problem, offer recommendations for resolving the issue and aid in determining the correct part number.
Milacron and ServTek worked together to create this interactive tool, drawing from research, customer feedback, extensive beta testing and their intimate knowledge of the molding process. The collaboration will also enable future integration of online parts ordering through ServTek.com for a quick, complete maintenance process.
In addition, the ITM comes with training videos to help customers deal with another pressing need: the widening skills gap. The ITM's instructional videos reduce training costs by offering insights into machine layout, operation and installation, preventative maintenance, the hydraulic circuit and electrical schematic, component overview and the machine control. Maintenance staff can easily identify a machine part number from the instructional videos, schematics and component images.
"With customers operating on lower budgets, keeping a well-trained maintenance staff is a major issue," said Dean Roberts, President of the Americas Aftermarket Services for Milacron. "The ITM is a groundbreaking tool to help with this issue, and we will continue to provide our customers with the tools needed to increase their uptime."
Milacron and its businesses are committed to being the leading suppliers of plastics-processing technologies and industrial fluids around the world. The people of Milacron's companies know what matters in manufacturing, and every day, put this know-how to work to help customers improve productivity, cut costs, increase energy efficiency, eliminate scrap and reduce cycle times.
