Casein-Based Labeling Adhesives are zinc- and borax-free.

November 26, 2012 - Eticol labeling adhesives are based on natural polymers obtained from casein, minimizing wastewater produced by bottlers and maximizing shelf life and quality of products. Flexible, water-based bottle labels maintain bond on moist and cold surfaces and also in presence of condensation on glass. They are available in variants with high wet tack and ice-water resistance, and can be used with high-speed labeling machines.

Henkel Launches New Zinc- and Borax-Free Casein-Based Labeling Adhesives

Düsseldorf / Germany

Eticol product range offers outstanding and sustainable performance

Henkel will unveil its new Eticol borax- and zinc-free casein-based labeling adhesives at this year's Brau Beviale in Nuremberg from November 13 to 15. The innovation is characterized by outstanding bonding power and, with a modified formulation, contributes to improved sustainability performance at bottling plants.

Eticol casein-based adhesives have proven their merit as a flexible bottle labeling solution employing water-based adhesives. The entire Eticol range is defined by exceptionally good bonding behavior on very moist and very cold bottle surfaces. Labels also adhere strongly to the bottle if condensation forms on the glass.

The Eticol product range is available in a number of variants, for example with high wet tack and outstanding ice-water resistance. The adhesives can be used in conjunction with labeling machines without difficulty, even at maximum speeds. Moreover, Eticol products have long exhibited excellent characteristics when the labels are removed in the bottle cleaner and they perform flawlessly in many plants worldwide.

Sustainable performance

The adhesive technology is based on natural polymers that are obtained from the raw material casein. Until now, some Eticol adhesives still contained borax or zinc in quantities far below the strict statutory limit values. The new Eticol products do not contain either of these ingredients at all. This has a positive impact on factors such as the wastewater produced by bottlers as well as the minimum shelf life and quality of the adhesives.

For bottlers, this innovation from Henkel contributes to enhanced sustainability and budget security.

By launching this next generation of labeling adhesives as part of its Eticol product range, Henkel combines innovation with sustainability leadership and continues its dedicated support toward the beverage industry.
