To be considered for eligibility, a project must be at least 90 percent complete by December 2012. Projects must involve the restoration or reconstruction of residential or commercial buildings. There is no minimum project size. Fees for members are $300 for the first entry and $200 for an additional entry. Non-member fees are $500 for first entry and $400 for the second entry. A firm may submit up to two projects in each category.

The registration deadline is Monday, December 17, 2012. "The Phoenix Awards illustrate the best aspects of the restoration industry," explained RIA's Director of Standards and Communications, Patricia Harman, who coordinates the competition. "The projects entered are excellent examples of the creativity, knowledge and ingenuity required by restoration professionals on a daily basis."

Projects are judged by a panel of professionals who consider the innovative procedures employed, problem-solving required as part of the restoration process, and the value demonstrated through a conspicuous reduction in the amount of the loss for the insurer and/or property owner.
