Spider8 Integrated Digital Measurement System

Marlborough, MA - December 14, 2001 - HBM, Inc., a leading global supplier of measurement technology, data acquisition systems and software, introduces the Spider8 Integrated Digital
Measurement System. With Spider8 everything needed for measurement, including signal conditioning, amplification, A/D conversion, filtering, and data acquisition is built into a compact housing. Simply connect Spider8 to a PC or laptop via the serial, parallel, or USB port and the system is immediately
ready for use.

Spider8 plug-in modules are available for the measurement of strain, force, torque, weight, displacement, pressure and other parameters using inductive, potentiometric, and strain gage based transducers. Frequency/pulse counters for encoders, resolvers, and tachometers are also available, as are electrically isolated inputs for temperature measurement with thermocouples and RTDs, or for measuring DC voltages, DC currents and resistances.

Each channel (up to 8) in the Spider8 provides excitation for passive transducers, amplification, filtering and its own A/D converter. Up to eight Spider8 units may be cascaded to create an economical 64-channel system providing up to 9,600 measurements per second from each channel with 16-bit resolution. All A/D converters operate synchronously ensuring no phase errors between channels.
