International standard specifies requirements for seat belt assemblies on agricultural tractors and self-propelled machinery, and is the third in a series of standards related to seat belt requirements. Compliance with this and other ISO standards for seat belt assemblies will minimize risk to both operator and equipment.

FAA Changes enhance safety for Hudson River airspace.

November 17, 2009 FAA finalized federal rule, effective November 19, 2009, that will enhance safety by separating low-altitude, local aircraft flights over Hudson River from flights transiting through river airspace. According to U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, "Better separation of aircraft means a higher margin of safety." Rule also requires pilots to follow safety procedures that were previously recommended but not mandatory.

November 17, 2009 ASTM International will hold Regulatory Compliance for the Flammability of General Wearing Apparel training course on April 14 in New York, N.Y., and May 18 in Chicago, IL. It will provide understanding of Flammable Fabric Act and Citation 16 CFR 1610, Standard for the Flammability of Clothing Textiles, which apply to all general wearing apparel manufactured and distributed in United States. Federal requirements that are covered eliminate flammable textiles from entering U.S. marketplace.

Bill Childers, president North American sales, Rexnord LLC was elected to serve as Foundation's President, while Barbara J. Ross, director sales and marketing for U.S. and Canada, Drives, LLC was elected to Vice President. John Masek, vice president, Bearing Service Inc. will serve as treasurer. Tim Clawser, Gus Kontonickas, and Keith Nowak will also be joining Board of Trustees in 2010.
PTDA Foundation surpasses fund drive goal in 2009.

November 17, 2009 Reflecting industry-wide support for PTDA Foundation's core Industrial Careers Pathway® (ICP) initiative, a total of $216,733 was raised through 2009 fund drive. This number exceeded its set goal of $215,000, and the 2009 Fund Drive was bolstered in part by a new partnership program for ICP. For the first time, PTDA Foundation offered other associations opportunity to help set strategy for ICP initiative in exchange for their financial and functional commitment.
