ASTM develops clothing standard for pesticide applicators.

January 7, 2010 ASTM F2669, Performance Specification for Protective Clothing Worn by Operators Applying Pesticides, outlines 3 levels of protection that allow for selection of garments based on potential risk determined as part of pesticide registration process. For example, Level 1 cotton or polyester/cotton coverall is sufficient when potential risk is relatively low. Garments that meet more stringent requirements can be used when higher protection is required.
ASTM releases new edition of standards for fence materials.

It includes 6 new standards and 22 revised standards since it was last published in 2007. Standards cover topics such as chain link and wire fence fabric, fence construction and installation, fence fittings and protective coatings, industrial and commercial horizontal slide gates, and design and fabrication of wood fencing.

Newly authorized devices include DeVilbiss Healthcare's iGo, International Biophysics Corporation's LifeChoice, Inogen's Inogen One G2, and Oxlife's Independence Oxygen Concentrator. The goal of adding these products is to offer passengers as many options as possible while meeting safety guidelines.

EPA approves ASTM test methods for contaminated water testing.

January 7, 2010 In an action effective on Nov 10, 2009, 15 methods contained in 10 ASTM standards are among 25 analytical methods that U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has approved for determining contaminant concentrations in samples collected under Safe Drinking Water Act. SDWA authorized EPA to approve use of alternative testing methods through publication in Federal Register. Methods were approved as being equally effective relative to methods previously promulgated in regulations.

Stoller is a co-principal investigator for ORNL Energy Frontier Research Center on Defect Physics, and prior to ORNL, he served as research associate and graduate student at University of California. Since 1986, Stoller has been an active and recognized member of ASTM Committee E10 on Nuclear Technology and Applications.
