January 28, 2010 ASTM International Committee D07 has elected David E. Kretschmann, research general engineer at USDA Forest Service Forest Products Laboratory, as Chairman. Kretschmann has been member of ASTM International since 1988 and received L.J. Markwardt Award in 2005 for contributions of outstanding merit to Committee D07. Kretschmann has been lead or co-author of more than 70 articles in his field and is member of Society of Wood Science and Technology as well as Forest Products Society.

January 28, 2010 According to Workholding Market Data Report, shipment revenues of workholding equipment in Q4 2009 were down 19.0% from Q4 2008, based on information from 38 participating companies. Shipments totaled $37.4 million while exports amounted to $8.8 million. Domestic workholding equipment shipments increased 8.0% and U.S. exports increased 81.9% from Q3 2009, with Midwest being largest domestic destination. Employment levels in Q4 2009 were down 0.5% from Q3 and down 19.0% compared to Q4 2008.
