Paper argues for inclusion of HID lamps in ENERGY STARŪ requirements and for allocations of federal funding to help propel further research and development. As described in this paper, benefits include extended lifetime, high maintained light levels, and broad ambient operating temperature range.

May 27, 2010 NIST and National Institutes of Health (NIH) researchers developed way to offer cells 3D scaffold with varying degrees of stiffness to determine where they develop best. Recently published technique, "The effect of 3D hydrogel scaffold modulus on osteoblast differentiation and mineralization," revealed that combinatorial screening provides way to rapidly optimize 3D cell growth media to meet developmental needs of specific cell types for potential tissue-replacement therapies.

May 27, 2010 According to ELFA's Monthly Leasing and Finance Index, overall new business volume for April grew 15% when compared to same period in 2009. When compared to prior month, MLFI-25 reported new business volume increased by 9%, from $4.3 billion to $4.7 billion. April originations showed year-over-year growth for first time since July 2008. Delinquencies improved as well, with receivables over 30 days declining to 3.7%, from 4.2% in prior month and 4.0% in year-earlier period.

PTDA Members expand into mechatronics and motion control.

Nineteen percent of respondents indicate they are fully engaged in motion control business, while 43% currently sell motion control products and plan to further expand their efforts in months ahead. Sixty percent of respondents indicate they use a specialist in some part of their business, and 82% of these specialists have an engineering degree or 3+ years of technical experience.
