Blakey, AIA is pleased that the Senate Commerce Committee and the House Science and Technology Committee have completed work on their respective versions of the NASA authorization bill. Because many companies will be making staffing decisions for fiscal 2011 in the next month, a quickly completed NASA authorization bill is absolutely critical for health and future vitality of U.S. space industry.

Ratification of treaties goes hand-in-hand with Obama administration's plan to modernize export controls, and is important for both national security and economic stability in the United States.

July 27, 2010 According to Workholding Market Data Report, shipments of workholding equipment are up 46.3% from second quarter 2009. Domestic shipments by 37 companies participating in this report total $45.7 million, while exports amount to $8.1 million. This also translates to respective increases of 7.4% and 9.4% from first quarter 2010. In addition to increasing shipments destined for Midwest, Central Northeast, South, and West regions, second quarter 2010 employment levels also increased.

Latest experiments, described in Advanced Functional Materials, maintained purity and defect-free crystal structure of NIST nanowires while controlling diameter and placement better than has been reported by other groups for catalyst-based nanowires.
